Which is the best beach in Northern beaches? Many visitors to Sydney or Australia may not be aware of the existence of the Northern Beaches. The first time I was in Sydney, I didn’t know either and stayed quite central throughout my stay. However, to all of you who are planning to be in Sydney or are considering whether it’s worth going to Manly or exploring beyond Sydney or not, I really think you should! Sydney is a beautiful city with much to see, but don’t miss the opportunity to explore the Northern Beaches. I would also argue that the life here is the life we imagine living in Australia.

Top 8 beaches in Northern Beaches
Manly Beach
Maybe not the best but definitely the biggest beach in northern beaches. With a vibrant atmosphere, Manly Beach offers a perfect blend of sun, surf, and a bustling promenade lined with quirky shops and cozy cafes.
Shelly Beach
Tucked away from the crowds, Shelly Beach is a tranquil paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts, boasting crystal-clear waters and a diverse marine life. Go here in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset.
Curl Curl Beach
A local favorite, Curl Curl is renowned for its consistent waves, making it an ideal spot for surfers, while its expansive sandy shores invite leisurely strolls.
Little Manly Beach
Take the ferry to Little Manly beach. Secluded and charming. Little Manly is a hidden gem with calm waters, perfect for a relaxing swim or a laid-back picnic with stunning views of the harbor. Go here to watch the sunset, it´s amazing!
Collins Beach maybe the best beach in northern beaches
Nestled amidst nature, Collins Beach offers a serene escape. Surrounded by lush greenery and showcasing Sydney’s skyline from a unique and peaceful perspective. Perfect if you want to get away from the crowd. It´s usually very quiet here.
Freshwater
Famous for its surf history, Freshwater boasts a welcoming atmosphere and family-friendly environment, making it a great choice for both surfers and beachgoers alike.
Fairlight Beach
A small and picturesque cove, Fairlight Beach provides a tranquil retreat with its calm waters, making it an excellent spot for a quiet seaside escape.
Palm Beach a wonderful beach in Northern Beaches
A true coastal paradise, Palm Beach features two stunning beachfronts and a scenic hike offering panoramic views, including a lookout shaped like a palm tree – a must-see for nature lovers. We really enjoyed going to Palm beach.
Each of these beaches has its own unique charm and is not like the other “ordinary beaches.” Manly Beach has lots of fun shops and cafes right by the beach. Collins Beach is a tiny beach with the most fantastic nature around and a view of Sydney’s skyscrapers. Palm Beach has two sides of the beach and also a hike with a view of the beach shaped like a palm tree, super beautiful! In other words, these beaches are very unique, and if you’re like me—a sucker for beaches—you should visit them!
