In the heart of Siargao, known as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines,” lies a hidden gem that appeals to more than just wave chasers. Welcome to Sugba Lagoon Siargao—a serene paradise that offers an entirely different kind of adventure. This breathtaking lagoon, framed by lush greenery and sparkling blue waters, is the perfect destination for travelers seeking both thrills and tranquility. From paddleboarding to cliff jumping and snorkeling, Sugba Lagoon Siargao invites you to dive into a world of untouched beauty and memorable experiences. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your trip to this magical place.
Getting to Sugba Lagoon from General Luna
To reach Sugba Lagoon Siargao, your adventure starts from the island’s bustling center, General Luna. Here, you can arrange transport through a guided tour or make your way independently to Del Carmen—a quaint coastal town on the western side of the island surrounded by mangrove forests. Most visitors find the best option is to join a tour, as it includes transport from General Luna, boat fees, lunch, and sometimes even activity rentals like paddleboards or kayaks. If you decided to go with a tour from General Luna then the price for the full day will be around 1600 pesos.
If you prefer a do-it-yourself approach, you can rent a motorbike or take public transport to reach Del Carmen port as we did, we rented our own motorbike. From there, hop on a traditional outrigger boat, which will take you through the mangrove forest—one of Asia’s largest! This scenic 20 to 30 minutes boat ride alone is enough to remind you why Siargao is celebrated not only for its beaches but also for its rich natural landscapes. Passing through dense mangroves and listening to the gentle splashes of water as the boat moves along feels like entering another world entirely, a perfect start to the beauty that awaits you at Sugba Lagoon Siargao.
Arriving at Sugba Lagoon: First Impressions
As you approach Sugba Lagoon Siargao, the scenery changes from dense mangroves to wide open turquoise waters surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs and lush vegetation. The lagoon’s serenity, broken only by the sounds of nature, immediately draws you in. Here, nature is the artist, and Sugba Lagoon is her masterpiece, inviting you to slow down and soak in the moment. Unlike the lively surf scene of General Luna, Sugba Lagoon offers a quieter, more introspective kind of beauty. You will truly be amazed by the beauty of Sugba lagoon.

Things to Do at Sugba Lagoon Siargao: Activities for Every Adventurer
There is plenty of activities to do at the Lagoon and I have listed everything for you too choose between.
Paddleboarding Across the Pristine Waters of Sugba Lagoon
One of the most popular activities at Sugba Lagoon Siargao is paddleboarding, where you can glide across the clear, still waters surrounded by towering cliffs and thick greenery. Renting a paddleboard (often included in tour packages, it is otherwise very cheap) allows you to explore the lagoon at your own pace. There’s something almost meditative about the way the board moves over the glassy surface, letting you feel fully immersed in the lagoon’s beauty.
For beginners, the calm waters make it a safe place to try paddleboarding, while more experienced paddlers can explore farther reaches and enjoy the incredible visibility of the lagoon’s depths.
Cliff Jumping for the Adventurous at Sugba Lagoon
For those looking for a bit of a thrill, cliff jumping is a must. One of the most famous spots here is a diving platform built right at the edge of the lagoon’s wooden deck. From this spot, you can take a leap into the cool, refreshing waters below. The jump isn’t too high, making it accessible for almost everyone but the rush of adrenaline and the splash into the clear lagoon water makes this an unforgettable experience. Standing on the edge might be nerve-wracking, but once you take the leap, it’s pure exhilaration. It’s moments like these that turn a simple trip to Sugba Lagoon Siargao into a cherished memory.
The only thing that is a bit unfortunately is that as Sugba lagoon has gotten more and more popular over the years. Because of the growing crowd, things like jumping from this platform has becomed very popular and if you are unlucky you will have to wait quiet a bit in line before your jump. Which takes away a little bit of the fun.
Kayaking Through Hidden Corners of Sugba Lagoon
Kayaking is another fantastic way to explore the lagoon. With a kayak, you have the freedom to paddle along the edges of the lagoon, discover hidden inlets, and observe the stunning limestone cliffs up close. Many visitors find that kayaking allows them to see different perspectives and find peaceful, secluded spots. With every stroke of the paddle, you go deeper into the natural surroundings, and it’s easy to lose yourself in the moment, discovering the lesser-known corners of Sugba Lagoon Siargao that often go unseen from the main deck area.
Easily my favourite thing to do in this lagoon. I think that we spended hours in the kayak floating around and enjoying the nature that was surounding us. With the best part being looking down in the crystal clear water and see all the beautiful fishes swimming around us.
Snorkeling: Discover Sugba Lagoon’s Underwater World
While Sugba Lagoon might be better known for its surface-level beauty, the underwater world is equally enchanting. As you maybe already expecting, I loved too go snorkeling here as well as being in the kayak. The lagoon’s clear waters make it an excellent place for snorkeling, offering a unique glimpse into its vibrant marine life. Although not as crowded with coral as some other parts of Siargao, you’ll still spot plenty of tropical fish, rock formations, and the occasional coral bed if you venture further out. Bringing a snorkel set is recommended, as many tours may not provide them. Dive in and witness the hidden treasures that lie beneath the surface of Sugba Lagoon Siargao.
