Sydneys best beaches. Sydney is a city with incredible charm. The city not only attracts with its iconic landmarks and vibrant city life but also with its fantastic beaches that surround the city. Who doesn’t love to relax on a beautiful beach? Sydney provides you with all the opportunities to do so, given the extensive variety of beaches. You are guaranteed to find a beach here that suits you perfectly.
Here is a list of the best beaches in Sydney that you shouldn’t miss.
Bondi Beach
Probably the most obvious beach on this list, but not without reason! Bondi Beach is one of the world’s most iconic beaches, and there is not a person who hasn’t heard of it. Bondi is a symbol of Australian beach culture and is known for its fantastic waves that attract surfers from around the world. However, the beach is not only for surfers. The golden sand and trendy cafes along the promenade make it a perfect place for all visitors. It’s worth noting that Bondi is a very popular beach, so it will undoubtedly be crowded, but despite that, you must visit Bondi Beach!
Manly Beach
Since we lived in Manly, it was natural that Manly Beach was where we spent our time, and I can highly recommend Manly Beach as one of Sydneys best beaches. Here, you have everything you need for a perfect day at the beach. Both the beach and the water are wonderful. The beach is large enough never to feel crowded, no matter how many people visit. When hunger strikes, there are plenty of options just a short walk away to satisfy it (our favorite place was Oakberry with its fantastic acai bowls).
It is also easily accessible, as you can simply take the ferry from Sydney Harbour to Manly. Finally, the beach has several volleyball courts for the public to use. If you feel like playing volleyball, you can easily join a group playing. Manly Beach is undoubtedly one of Sydney’s best beaches.
Shelly Beach
A hidden gem just a short walk from Manly Beach. Shelly was also one of our favorites. An incredibly charming little beach tucked away in a bay, making it almost always sheltered from the wind. We always went here in the afternoons to enjoy the tranquility and, not least, the beautiful sunsets, so that’s my best tip. Bring a picnic and enjoy the sunset at Shelly Beach! Shelly is also one of the best places to snorkel.
Palm Beach – One of sydneys best beaches
One of the more famous and also best beaches in Sydney. Also the northernmost geographically places beach. Palm Beach is known for its wide beaches, golden sand dunes, and the iconic Barrenjoey Lighthouse. This area is also popular for swimming and water sports.
For a spectacular view of Sydney Harbour and the Central Coast, climb up to the lighthouse on Barrenjoey Head and enjoy the scenery. It’s also worth mentioning that Palm Beach is a filming location for many movies. The most famous is the TV series “Home and Away.”
Bronte Beach
Bronte is located between Bondi and Coogee. The beach offers a slightly more relaxed environment away from the crowds, and the scenic coastal walk here is one of the most beautiful in Sydney. The waves can be quite big on this beach, but if you prefer calmer waters, you can swim in the pools here, known as “Bronte Baths.” There is also an excellent picnic area where you can enjoy a relaxed day in the sun.
Coogee Beach
One of the most popular beaches in the southern part of Sydney. Coogee Beach has something for everyone. The calm water makes it welcoming for families. Those who enjoy picnics can spend the day on the grass, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to suit all types of people. Simply a wonderful beach to spend time on!
These beaches are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Sydney and its beaches. Sydney has so many beaches to choose from, so you will undoubtedly be able to find the perfect beach for you.
