Living in Ystad is something truly special. Here, you not only find the proximity to the sea and the picturesque town center, but also a wonderful sense of community and togetherness that many visitors fall in love with. One of my absolute favorite activities is visiting the cafes in Ystad—sitting down with a cup of coffee and soaking in the city’s vibe. That’s why I wanted to share some of my top cafe spots in Ystad, places where atmosphere, taste, and history come together perfectly.
Grändens Mat – A Culinary Experience Beyond the Ordinary at Ystad Cafes
Grändens Mat is one of the cafes in Ystad where you get much more than just an ordinary coffee break. Here, you can enjoy homemade treats in a relaxed, inviting environment. Grändens has a cozy courtyard that is perfect for summer afternoons—a true oasis in the middle of the city. My recommendation is to try their Snickers cake, which is among the best I know and will leave you wanting more. Here, you get both flavor and ambiance, making it my favorite cafe in Ystad. Read more on their website.
Tip: Try their Snickers cake or one of their homemade pastries. You won’t be disappointed, I promise!

Kafé Inkognito – A Hidden Gem Among Cafes in Ystad
If you’re looking for a quiet place to retreat, Kafé Inkognito is perfect. This cafe in Ystad is a bit tucked away despite being located in the heart of the city. It offers a discreet, relaxed atmosphere with an industrial touch and soft lighting. Here, high-quality coffee and freshly baked bread are served, making it an ideal spot for those who want to stay incognito and simply enjoy.
Tip: Order a cappuccino with a slice of their salty caramel cake.
Söderberg & Sara – Quality Treats with a Focus on Craftsmanship
Söderberg & Sara is one of Ystad’s most popular cafes and is especially known for its craftsmanship. Here, you’ll find exquisite sourdough bread and carefully selected coffee that tastes amazing. Söderberg & Sara is located at Österportstorg and is a must-visit for those who appreciate quality. Their treats are on the pricier side, but it’s worth it. You won’t find better quality homemade pastries anywhere else in Ystad. On weekends, it’s the perfect place to sit down and watch Ystad come to life as you enjoy your favorite flavors. Try their cinnamon or cardamom buns—they are perfection.
Tip: Enjoy a morning coffee with freshly baked sourdough rolls, croissants, freshly brewed coffee, and a piece of carrot cake. It’s the perfect start to the day, in my opinion!

Fritidsbaren – The Classic Summer Cafe in Ystad
No list of cafes in Ystad would be complete without Fritidsbaren. This iconic summer cafe is famous for its large, fluffy Danish pastries and its location near the beach. Both locals and tourists gather here to enjoy the sun and the sea breeze. Fritidsbaren truly captures the essence of summer in Ystad and is a place where you can savor both the view and the flavors. Be prepared to wait in line—people flock here for their pastries.
- Tip: Order one or two Danish pastries and sit by the beach to enjoy Ystad’s beautiful summer sunsets.

Glassmakeriet – A Unique Treat Among Ystad Cafes for Ice Cream Lovers
When the temperature rises, Glassmakeriet is a must for anyone looking for a refreshing break. This unique cafe in Ystad offers a wide selection of flavors that will delight any ice cream enthusiast. From classic tastes to innovative combinations, every spoonful is a joy. Glassmakeriet is a summer favorite and adds a playful twist to the cafe experience in Ystad.
- Tip: There are many delicious flavors to choose from, but try their browned butter ice cream with caramelized almonds—it’s the best.
Olof Viktors – A Craft Cafe Near Ystad
Just outside Ystad lies Olof Viktors, an award-winning cafe and bakery that attracts visitors from across the region. I love visiting to enjoy their sourdough bread and pastries, which are baked with great care. The setting is both rural and cozy, making it a perfect destination when you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while.
- Tip: No visit to Olof Viktors is complete without trying their crayfish sandwich on sourdough bread.
Glutenfria Paradiset – A Top Pick for Gluten-Free Cafes in Ystad
For those seeking gluten-free options, Glutenfria Paradiset is a gem among Ystad’s cafes. Here you’ll find everything from bread to sweet pastries, all made with love and care for the gluten-intolerant. Even if you’re not avoiding gluten, this place is worth a visit as their treats are truly impressive. In the summer, the cafe has good opening hours, but be sure to check their Facebook page before visiting as they are sometimes unexpectedly closed.
- Tip: Try the homemade bread—it tastes almost like regular bread with gluten, which for me is the highest praise gluten-free baking can receive.
Gourmet Hörnan – For Connoisseurs Among Cafes in Ystad
Gourmet Hörnan is a cafe where a passion for great tea and coffee takes center stage. This is the place for those on the go who want to enjoy a small chocolate bite or freshly brewed coffee. Here, you can choose from a variety of coffee beans, which feels very exclusive. In addition, there is a small shop that sells local delicacies. A real gem in Ystad with staff who are truly passionate about what they do.
Tip: Take the opportunity to buy some freshly ground coffee to take home—my favorite is the hazelnut-flavored variety.
Graffiti Café – Urban Vibe and Great for a Longer Stay
If I’m on the go and want something quick and tasty, I often choose Graffiti Café. While it may not have the city’s absolute best pastries, they are still very good! The best part about Graffiti is the cafe itself. It is modern, spacious, and perfect if you want to stay longer, either to enjoy your coffee or to get some work done.
- Tip: Ideal if you need to get some work done—order a cup of coffee and complete your tasks in peace.

Tildas Bakeri
Tildas Bakeri is located on Regementsgatan near Österportstorg. Here, you will find a wide array of delicious pastries, all made from scratch. This artisanal bakery truly focuses on quality in everything they do. It’s worth noting that they only have a small outdoor seating area that’s open during summer, so takeout is the main option, especially in the winter months.
- Tip: Try their cheesecakes—there are several flavors to choose from!
